"a real home environment along with safety and protection"
Education
Young Foundations places a great value on education and we employ a qualified teacher in our young people's homes.
YF is also a registered centre for ASDAN (Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network) and we can deliver Towards Independence, Transition Challenge and Bronze and Silver Awards in addition to a core programme of maths, English and science.
We can also access online learning where appropriate or help young people to attain the certificate of Prior Learning through the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme.
To make sure all young people achieve their optimum potential we develop Personal Education Plans (PEP) in line with their abilities, interests and educational history and these are reviewed every six months.
This support lets young people develop their confidence and skills within a daily structure in a non-threatening environment. When young people come to Young Foundations they are registered with the local education authority and matched with the most appropriate education setting.
Our teachers liaise with the school or specialist provision and attend reviews while residential workers support and encourage homework and projects. Young people also have access to online learning, giving chances to gain qualifications at GCSE and AS levels, Basic Skills levels and CLAIT (certificate for IT users).
Educational input is included in our fee structure and there are no hidden extras.
ASDAN is established as a registered charity for "The advancement of education, by providing opportunities for all learners to develop their personal and social attributes and levels of achievement through ASDAN awards and resources, and the relief of poverty, where poverty inhibits such opportunities for learners."
