Once a referral has been made, how quickly can Young Foundations make a placement decision?

A decision around placements can be made extremely quickly, providing the referral team are given up to date, relevant information. We can respond to crisis situations and decisions will be made within hours, not days.

Will Young Foundations be able to provide a holistic care programme for young people?

Young Foundations prides itself on the quality of placements it provides. Our professional staff teams include; Social Workers, Teachers, Consultant Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Clinical Assistants and experienced and knowledgeable teams of Residential Workers. This ensures that all young people placed with Young Foundations are offered a complete care placement in line with their individual needs and care plans.

Is there a time limit on placements?

No. Many young people stay with us for a year or so, but some stay for only six months and others have been with us for four years.

Are Young Foundations registered with the appropriate body?

All Young Foundations' children's homes are registered with Ofsted, and the transitions homes are registered with the Care Quality Commission in England and the Scottish Care Commission in Scotland.

What do the weekly fees include?

Our fees are inclusive of all social care needs i.e. clothing, toiletries, activities, travel and day to day living expenses. It is also inclusive of all education provision, psychiatric input, psychological and clinical support.

If the placement breaks down will there be an expectation to move the child immediately?

Very few Young Foundations placements break down. In the rare occurance that there is a break down, Young Foundations will endeavour to move on all young people in a planned way and will negotiate with the placing authority.

What are the criteria for placement?

Young Foundations will accept referrals to the children's homes for young people, male and female, who are aged 12-17 years and who are experiencing a crisis in their lives and need a period of structured stabilisation outside of their present environment. Young people referred to Young Foundations may have; a learning difficulty, ADHD, a diagnosed mental illness, an autistic spectrum disorder or a socialised conduct disorder.

Young adults aged 16 to 25 years old will be considered for placement in our transitions homes.

How do young people spend their time at Young Foundations?

All young people are expected to become involved in our education programme which runs from 9 am - 3 pm, Monday to Friday during term-time. Outside of school hours and at weekends, staff are proactive in encouraging young people to become involved in a wide range of interests, hobbies and activities which are time-tabled within individual care plans.

Young adults in our transitions homes can continue to develop and learn via the ASDAN scheme and other related learning frameworks.

What are the staffing levels within the home?

A minimum of three residential staff will be on duty at all times during the day with additional support from the Home Manager. On week days, a teacher will be on duty along with a domestic member of staff and a cook. There will be two members of staff on duty and awake at night.
