"a real home environment along with safety and protection"
Residential homes
Young Foundations has residential homes in Scotland, the North-East of England and the Midlands. These provide a stable, calm and safe place for children and young people to progress and are designed to help young people and YF staff to interact positively.
Young Foundations has three residential homes based near Darlington, Crook and Sunderland in the North-East of England. In the Midlands there are two residential homes in the Coventry area, and one in Scotland.
Our homes, all with five bedrooms, are designed with young people in mind. Every young person has their own bedroom which is suitably designed and furnished. YF encourages personalisation of rooms with young people choosing which of their things they would like around them and choosing colour schemes and decor.
There are also comfy communal rooms where time can be spent with other young people, as well as a classroom and gardens. The homes offer a place where young people can develop and maintain relationships, achieve personal goals and live without need for aggression and undue distress.
Our homes are genuinely different - they offer a real home environment along with safety and protection for vulnerable young people with complex needs. There are structured days with education provision and we encourage and enable activities in the community.
There are safe, but still homely, facilities for young people to cook and prepare meals, opportunities for supervised internet access, and private spaces. YF homes give young people the chance to live their lives in safe, but homely environment, while learning important life skills and accessing the community.
