Welcome to Young Foundations.
Young Foundations provides residential care, fostering services and transitional care for young people and young adults who have complex needs or behaviours that challenge, with or without learning disabilities. We have residential homes in the North East, Midlands and Scotland, transition homes in the North East and foster carers in the North East and North West. Our services are designed with the utmost care to provide holistic and therapeutic support in settings which give safety, stability, opportunity and fun.
Young people referred to us may have a range of difficulties, including learning disabilities, pervasive developmental disorders, mental health problems and/or emotional and behavioural disorders. Our residential homes support children and young people from age 12-17; our transition homes from 16-25; our foster carers from age 6-18 (including mother and baby). We use a social care model augmented by education and direct access to specialised knowledge provided by specialist clinicians.
Young Foundations’ focus is in line with the outcomes which matter most to children and young people:
- Being healthy
- Staying safe
- Enjoying and achieving
- Making a positive contribution
- Economic wellbeing
In a society which still discriminates against individuals with disabilities, our aim is not only to help those young people attain their goals but also support them in accessing society.
Placements can include short-term crisis intervention through to longer-term stays. Several young people in our care stay beyond the age of 18.
