The Directors and Clinicians of Young Foundations are pleased to invite you to a learning disability symposium at the Whitehouse Hotel, Worcester on Wednesday 5th March 2008.

More about the symposium

With a rise in the number of children with learning disabilities and very complex needs and those with life limiting conditions at a greater risk of developing mental health difficulties, the practical challenge is how to ensure children and young people’s services are coherent in design and delivery, with good co-ordination, effective joint working between sectors, with smooth transitions, and achieved in partnership with children, young people and families.

Entitled “Specialist Placements, Value for Money and the Wellbeing of Children and Young People with Learning Disabilities and Complex Needs”, the symposium aims to explore the commissioning challenge for local authorities and PCTs as they work towards achieving the aims set out in the new Children’s & Young Persons Act 2007.

Who will the symposium appeal to?

The symposium will appeal to professionals working in both health and social care who seek a deeper understanding of people with learning disabilities and with high support needs who require support to progress across their individual care pathway.
